This unique class explores the more internal and meditative aspects of tai chi along with the application of the tai chi principle of Jing, often translated as having a quiet, yet alert mind. This mental quality is the basis for the saying that tai chi is "meditation in motion". The class will teach some basic body awareness and meditation techniques while sitting, standing and walking as well as some basic Taoist philosophy as it applies to tai chi. We will then work on applying those techniques and concepts to your tai chi, transforming it into a true "Meditation in Motion".
To qualify for this class, you must be comfortable with at least Part 1 (moves 1-12) of the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention program or with sections 1 & 2 of the Yang Style 24 Forms (Short Form).
Tai Chi and the Quiet Mind classes are planned intermittently during the year based on interest and available class time slots. Please contact the instructor at tcafp.dn@gmail.com if you are interested or have any questions on this unique class.
